What can you do:

The Bat Eared Fox Project is kindly sponsored by Volkswagen Fleet UK

The Bat Eared Fox alongside several other species are under threat (whilst not from total extinction) but by many different facets namely, ignorance, road-kill and mistaken identity.

Kwa Motlhose has formed a trust " The Motlhose Wildlife Trust" (MWT) to assist in the rehabilitation of injured animals and birds and to start educational programmes for the local area which with a coalition of local organisations and individuals who are also concerned about these creatures, hope to press for ecologically sensitive solutions for them.

If you would like to help or support our trust, join the mailing list, or learn more about any of our campaigns, please send your details to enquiries@kwamotlhose.co.za. By joining our mailing list you will receive regular updates about developments, and news about how you can assist (if you wish to do so).

Our Mission Statement

  • We will endeavour to ensure the successful rehabilitation of any injured creature brought to us.
  • We will try at all times to release everything back to nature were possible and viable
  • We are opposed to any local proposals that are environmentally destructive.
  • The MWT supports any initiatives to develop sustainable, community based and environmentally sound activities within the region.
  • The MWT calls for the declaration of the Bat eared fox as a protected species, and that moves will be taken by the government to change their current listings.

What makes us different?

Currently there is no recognised rehabilitation centre in this area and we believe that by effort and education we can establish a centre that can be both beneficial and educational to the community

Why is this effort so important?

At present, South Africa's wildlife is at the mercy of governmental regulatory bodies that sadly don't always seem to have their best interests at heart. Our objective is to protect and educate, thus ensuring the longevity of all our wildlife and that they are not pursued for the wrong reasons.

The Motlhose Trust is dedicated to conservation & education and does not operate a visitor centre.
